OVERVIEW
P.S. 53X is an elementary school, in the Morrisania section of the Bronx, which serves Grades Pre-Kindergarten through 5. Our student enrollment is approximately 1,300. Our demographics indicate: 60% Hispanics, 30% African American and 10% representative of students from various regions including West Africa, the West Indies, Asia and Europe.

At P.S. 53x, we are excited to use ClassDojo to enhance communication and collaboration between teachers, students, and parents. ClassDojo is a powerful tool that helps us create a positive classroom environment by promoting student engagement and recognizing positive behaviors. Through ClassDojo, parents can stay informed about their child's progress, receive important updates, and celebrate their achievements. We believe that by working together, we can support every student's growth and success.
School Policies
Attendance Policy: Regular attendance is crucial for student success. Students are expected to attend school every day unless they are ill or have a valid reason for absence. Parents should notify the school in case of an absence and provide a written note upon the student's return.
Dress Code Policy: All students are required to wear the school uniform daily. The uniform consists of gray bottoms and a white or purple shirt. Each student receives a free white polo and purple T-shirt at the beginning of the school year. In the fall, signature cardigans and ties are distributed.
Behavior Policy: Students are expected to follow the school's core values and demonstrate respectful, responsible behavior at all times. The school emphasizes positive reinforcement and rewards for good behavior. Disciplinary actions are taken for violations, which may include suspension for severe infractions.
Other Policies:
- Electronic Devices: Students are allowed to use electronic devices for educational purposes only. Misuse of devices can result in confiscation.
- Health and Safety: The school ensures a safe environment for all students. Regular health checks and safety drills are conducted.
